Welcome to my bonsai blog featuring the beautiful Black Hills of South Dakota. For the Yamadori bonsai artist, the Black Hills are hard to top, with gnarly ponderosa pines, namesake Black Hills spruce, and Rocky Mt. Junipers in abundance. Just like the passion associated with keeping bonsai, collecting these trees in the Hills is an equally engrossing endeavor. Beyond collecting though, bonsai with nursery material, growing bonsai from seed (misho), indoor bonsai, Japanese-inspired gardening, koi-keeping, and working with dwarf conifers and plants of all kinds–there are not enough hours in a day!
